This page explains what information we collect from you when you use the MrQuality website and extension, why we collect it, and how we protect it. By using the website or the extension, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

When you create an account or use the extension, we collect only the information needed to run the service:

• Full name and email address — to create your account and sign you in.
• Password — always stored hashed. Nobody has access to the original text, not even us.
• Subscription status — plan type and expiry date, to enable or disable your use of the extension.
• Simple usage statistics — file name, size, quality and date of each operation, only to show them on your account page and for technical support.
• Device ID — a random number generated locally in the extension, used only to enforce the “one device per account” limit.
• Website visit statistics — page views and visitor counts, with no cookies and without storing your IP address or browser details. We keep only the page, country, referrer and device type (mobile/desktop), plus an anonymous identifier that changes every day and therefore can’t be used to follow you from one day to the next.

What we never collect or process

Video processing (the quality fix) happens entirely locally in your browser using WebAssembly — the video file itself is never uploaded to or stored on our servers, and we have no access to its content.

How we use the information

• Signing you in and verifying your identity on the website and in the extension (one unified login).
• Managing your subscription and enabling or disabling it according to its status.
• Providing technical support when you need help.
• Improving the service in general (through aggregated usage statistics, with no external tracking).

Sharing data with third parties

We don’t sell or share your data with any third party for marketing or any other purpose. The only exception: the showcase videos in the “Success partners” section of the home page are embedded directly from TikTok through TikTok’s official iframe — when you watch that content, TikTok may set its own cookies according to TikTok’s privacy policy, which is outside our control.

Cookies and local storage

We use a simple session cookie to remember your login on the website, and local storage inside the extension itself (chrome.storage) to keep the login token and device ID — this data never leaves your device except to communicate with our own server, and is never sent to any external service. We also store a small cookie (mq_lang) that remembers the language you chose with the language switch.

Data security

All communication between the browser and the server is encrypted over HTTPS, and passwords are stored as irreversible hashes.

Data retention and account deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you want to delete your account and all data linked to it, contact us at the email below and we will process the request within a reasonable time.

Children’s privacy

This service is not directed at anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect information from this age group.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time — any material change will be reflected here, together with an update to the “Last updated” date above.
